چکیده

Alkyl oxalates are new bench-stable alcohol-activating groups for radical generation under visible light photoredox conditions. Using these precursors, the first net redox-neutral coupling of tertiary and secondary alcohols with electron-deficient alkenes is achieved.

Cascade photoredox/gold catalysis: access to multisubstituted indoles via aminoarylation of alkynes.

A new method for the synthesis of 3-arylindoles has been developed by visible light mediated dual gold/photoredox catalysis. This transformation has many features such as cascade catalysis, high efficiency, redox-neutral reaction conditions and good functional group tolerance. The reaction proceeds through the photoredox-promoted formation of an electrophilic arylgold(iii) intermediate that und...

Direct alkylation of heteroarenes with unactivated bromoalkanes using photoredox gold catalysis

Although visible light photoredox catalysis has emerged as a powerful tool for the construction of C–C bonds, common catalysts and/or their photoexcited states suffer from low redox potentials, limiting their applicability to alkyl radical generation from substrates with activated carbon–halogen bonds. Radicals derived from these activated compounds, being highly electrophilic or stabilized, do...

Decarboxylative Fluorination of Aliphatic Carboxylic Acids via Photoredox Catalysis.

The direct conversion of aliphatic carboxylic acids to the corresponding alkyl fluorides has been achieved via visible light-promoted photoredox catalysis. This operationally simple, redox-neutral fluorination method is amenable to a wide variety of carboxylic acids. Photon-induced oxidation of carboxylates leads to the formation of carboxyl radicals, which upon rapid CO2-extrusion and F(•) tra...

Visible Light Photocatalytic Radical-Radical Cross-Coupling Reactions of Amines and Carbonyls: A Route to 1,2-Amino Alcohols.

An intermolecular radical-radical cross-coupling reaction of secondary and tertiary amines with aryl ketones and aldehydes has been developed using visible light photoredox catalysis. This reaction provides an efficient and straightforward approach to some useful 1,2-amino alcohols in moderate to good yields under mild conditions.
